Access & safety

Public access

Historic 1911 head house with active Amtrak Northeast Corridor + MARC Penn Line platforms. Public access through the main concourse to platform level. The light-rail stop directly outside adds a third operator without leaving the block.

Safety notes

Stay behind yellow platform lines — Acela approaches at 110+ mph on platform-adjacent tracks. Active ticketing area, frequent Amtrak Police presence; photography of trains is fine, but follow posted Amtrak rules.

Parking

Garage adjacent to the station (paid). Street parking on Charles St / St Paul St is metered and often full. Light rail or transit recommended.

Best time of day

Midday for headhouse interior light; weekday rush hours for the highest MARC + Amtrak frequency.

Train frequency

Very high — Amtrak NEC service every ~30 minutes mid-day, MARC Penn Line every ~30 minutes peak. Acela + Northeast Regional + long-distance Crescent / Carolinian / Palmetto all call here.

Nearby

Cafes, restrooms, ticketing inside the station. Mount Vernon neighborhood restaurants within 3-4 blocks.
