Access & safety

Public access

Restored historic Denver Union Station serves Amtrak (California Zephyr daily each way), RTD Denver's A-Line (commuter rail to DEN airport), B-Line (to Westminster), G-Line (to Wheat Ridge / Arvada), N-Line (to Thornton), and the 16th Street Mall shuttle. Track 1-8 platform area is freely accessible from the historic Great Hall.

Safety notes

Station platforms are fully public access. Standard "stay behind the yellow line" applies to active platform edges; RTD trains are short-headway. Great Hall has security but tripods and photography are allowed for personal use.

Parking

Public Union Station Transit Center bus bays underneath the building. Multiple paid parking garages on Wewatta St and 17th St within one block. Limited metered street parking.

Best time of day

Amtrak Zephyr arrivals/departures are scheduled twice daily (EB #6 mid-morning, WB #5 mid-evening) — both work for platform photography. RTD trains run frequent daytime service. Evening blue hour with the Great Hall lit is a classic Denver shot.

Train frequency

Very high — RTD A/B/G/N lines combined run hundreds of moves per day. Plus the daily Zephyr in each direction. UP and BNSF tracks adjacent are mainline routes (most through-freights use bypass routes but switching activity is visible).

Nearby

The Crawford Hotel inside Union Station has restaurants, bars, and lodging. LoDo neighborhood is full-service. Public restrooms in the Great Hall.
